What the Dance Floor Taught Me About Expansion

This weekend, Olive and I got ready for something special.

Not just a quick “throw something on and go” kind of day…but a full experience.

Hair did.
Makeup done.
Outfits chosen with intention.

We planned it.
We felt it.
We stepped into it.

And when we walked into that space…something shifted.

There’s Something About Being Seen

There’s a moment — especially as women — where being seen can feel… uncomfortable.

Too much.
Too loud.
Too expressive.
Too you.

But not there.

Not on that dance floor.

The Dance Floor Doesn’t Ask You to Shrink

It doesn’t ask:

  • who you are

  • what you do

  • if you’re doing it “right”

It just invites you to move.

To feel.

To take up space.

And I watched my daughter step into that so naturally.

No hesitation.
No second-guessing.
No asking if she was allowed.

She just… was.

What Are We Teaching Our Children?

That moment stayed with me.

Because whether we realize it or not — we are always teaching.

Through our words.
Through our actions.
Through what we allow… and what we hold back.

And in that space, I saw something so clear:

I want her to grow up believing she is allowed to be fully expressed
I want her to feel safe being seen
I want her to trust her joy, her body, her voice

Expansion Starts With Permission

Not permission from the world.

Permission from yourself.

To:

  • show up

  • take up space

  • be expressive

  • be joyful

  • be seen

Because our children don’t learn from what we say…

They learn from what we live.

This Is Magnetic Energy

This is what we’re talking about this month.

Not forcing.
Not performing.
Not trying to be something we’re not.

But stepping into spaces where we feel:

  • alive

  • free

  • connected

And allowing that version of us to exist outside those moments too.

What This Means for Your Life

Expansion doesn’t always look like big moves or big risks.

Sometimes…

it looks like:

  • saying yes to the moment

  • dancing a little longer

  • expressing yourself a little louder

  • letting yourself be seen just as you are

I want to ask you something:

Where in your life are you holding back your expression?

And what would it look like to give yourself just a little more freedom this week?

You are allowed to be seen.
You are allowed to take up space.
You are allowed to feel free.

And when you do…you teach the next generation that they can too.

XOXO Bonnie
