You Can Be Serious About Your Growth — And Still Keep Your Sense of Humor

There is a version of growth that feels heavy.

Serious.
Intense.
All-or-nothing.

It tells you that if you’re evolving, you must constantly be in deep reflection.
That if you’re healing, you must always be processing.
That if you’re building something meaningful, you can’t be light about it.

But here’s something I’ve learned:

You can be serious about your growth without becoming serious about yourself.

Bravery doesn’t require rigidity.

In our house, we have a crowned skeleton named Skully.

She holds a wand.
She stands tall.
She doesn’t apologize for existing in the hallway.

And somehow, she’s become symbolic.

Because growth doesn’t have to strip you of play.

You can build a business and laugh at yourself.
You can raise strong girls and still be silly.
You can hold boundaries and still dance in the kitchen.
You can be disciplined and still be light.

There is strength in balance.

The strongest women I know are not the most intense.

They are the most grounded.

They know when to focus.
They know when to soften.
They know when to push.
They know when to laugh.

If your growth feels heavy right now, ask yourself: Have I made this harder than it needs to be?

Bravery isn’t about carrying everything at once.

Here it’s about releasing the pressure to be perfect. It’s about letting the house be a little weird. It’s about keeping the crown on the skeleton because it makes us both smile.

Growth is not just discipline. It’s identity. And identity includes joy.

If you are building something meaningful this year — a business, a family, a new version of yourself — Do it with intention.

But don’t forget to enjoy it. Your strength does not disappear when you laugh.

It becomes sustainable.

And sustainable growth?

That’s the real magic.

If this resonated, share it with someone who takes herself a little too seriously (with love).

And if you’re building something right now — keep the crown on.
