Alignment Isn’t Stillness — It’s Direction
When we hear the word alignment, it’s easy to imagine stillness — quiet meditation, calm mornings, or perfectly balanced schedules. But alignment isn’t about staying still. Alignment is about direction.
You can be moving fast, but if your movement doesn’t line up with your truth, it’s just noise. The world celebrates “busy” all the time — more hustle, more hours, more output. But busyness doesn’t equal alignment. Alignment is knowing that where you’re headed actually matters to you.
Last week, I had to make a decision that looked small on the surface but carried weight. I was invited to something exciting, but when I checked in with myself, I realized saying yes would actually pull me away from my bigger purpose. Saying no was the most aligned choice. Did it feel easy? Not at all. But I felt lighter the moment I made it.
That’s the thing about alignment — it doesn’t always feel convenient, but it does feel right. And the relief that comes from being true to yourself is worth every hard choice.
Here’s a practice I’ve been leaning into: a 5-minute daily check-in. Just ask yourself, “Is this moving me toward or away from my freedom?” That one question can save you from weeks, even years, of walking down paths that were never meant for you.
Where in your life are you busy — but not necessarily aligned? Try the 5-minute check-in today.
